Able Care Pharmacy and Medical Supplies provides the essential immunizations required to protect its patients against:

Flu:

The flu — also called influenza — is caused by a virus that causes local epidemics as well as epidemics throughout the world. In the United States, flu season typically begins in the fall. It's recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that everyone 6 months of age and older, with rare exception, gets an annual flu vaccine.

At Able Care Pharmacy and Medical Supplies we carry the flu vaccine Fluzone® both the high dose and regular dose, available for our patients who are 18 years or older. Egg-Free flu vaccines are also available for our patients.

​Pneumonia:

People 65 years of age or older are at higher risk for developing Pneumococcal pneumonia. This disease is not a cold or the flu but it’s an illness that is caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, a common bacteria that can spread through the air from a cough or a sneeze or from close contact with an infected person. It is a serious illness that could lead to hospitalization or even death. Certain medical conditions may require the patient to receive their vaccine earlier than recommended.

At Able Care Pharmacy and Medical Supplies we carry both the pneumococcal vaccine Prevnar13®‎ and Pneumovax®‎ available for our patients. These vaccines has been approved for adults 65 years of age and older for the prevention of pneumococcal pneumonia.

Shingles:

People 50 years of age or older are at higher risk for developing shingles which is a viral infection that causes a painful rash. Although shingles can occur anywhere on your body, it most often appears as a single stripe of blisters that wraps around either the left or the right side of your torso. At Able Care Pharmacy and Medical Supplies we have the Shingles vaccine Shingrix® available for our patients.‎ Shingrix® is newly approved by the FDA for adults 50 years of age and older to decrease the risk of acquiring Shingles in the future, proven to be up to 90% effective vs a 51% efficacy of Zostavax®! The vaccine is given in 2 shots, spaced out by 2-6 months.

The CDC recommends that all adults above 50 years of age to get the vaccine regardless of past vaccines.
